OBSERVANCE OF U.N. DECLARED DAYS

The Department of Environmental Studies, Kannur University has organised a departmental activity as a part of observing UN declared days with the support of DoECC, Govt. of Kerala. Two invited lectures by experts were delivered to the students to impart awareness for the need to conserve various resources.An extension activity to quantify the level of salt (NaCl) along with other water quality parameters in the ground water of coastal areas of Kannur District was conducted. It compared the present level of water quality parameters with the standard and assessed its fitness for potability. Remedial measures were suggested to control salt water intrusion in the study area.
