Three-days international conference with RBI financial assistance

Date: 6th, 7th and 8th February 2019

The international conference hosted by department of Economics aimed to bring together scholars, teachers, banking experts, financial economists, environmentalists, social scientists, etc. targeted to have a better discourse for identifying right approach towards inclusive growth and social development of the country. The conference proved as an enriching and memorable event in the academic discourse and was a milestone in the area of Research on Financial inclusion, Inclusive growth and Social development.

Two books authored and edited by Prof. K Gangadharan was also released by Hon. Vice Chancellor of Kannur University Prof. (Dr.) Gopinath Ravindran during the inaugural session of the three day international conference. Dr. Ravichandran Moorthy, Head, Centre for Policy & Global Governance, Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia delivered the Key note address.

The presentations in the Plenary sessions were carried out by the Resource Persons Prof (Dr.) B A Prakash (Former Professor of Economics, University of Kerala & Chairman of 5th State Finance Commission, Kerala), Prof. Ravindra Kumar B (Professor, Department of Studies and Research in Economics, Tumkur University, Karnataka), Prof. (Dr.) L. Venkatachalam (Professor-RBI Chair, Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS), Chennai, Prof. (Dr.) S.Iyyampilai (Professor of Economics- Rtd., Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli), Prof (Dr.) K C Baiju (Professor, Department of Economics, Central University of Kerala), Prof. (Dr.) VR Muraleedharan (Professor, Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Madras) and Prof. (Dr.) C. Dhandapani (Professor & Head, Department of Economics, Thiruvalluvar University, Tamil Nadu).

The conference was also enriched with 107 paper presentations in six technical sessions on the topics Education, Inclusion and Human Capital Formation, Gender and Development- Emerging Issues, Managing Environment: Priorities And Strategies, Recent Reforms and Related Issues , Banks and Diversification of Financial Services, Credit Accessibility and Rural Development, Innovations and Inclusions in Finance, Health, Nutrition and Social Exclusion, Health sector Reforms and Strategies, Healthcare Expenditure and Financing, Inclusive Growth: Strategies and Perspectives and Microfinance and Empowerment carried out by National and International delegates.
