Policy Reforms in Education and Health and the Share of the Poor in India

Date: September 12th and 13th 2007

The conference discussed the policy reforms, the progress of achievement and challenges in education and health across the states in India in terms of sharing benefits of investment in these sectors with the socially and economically poor.

Prof.(Dr.) V.N. Rajashekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi inaugurated the National Seminar on “ Policy Reforms in Education and Health and the Share of the Poor in India’’ on 12th September 2007.

Joshi (Professor and Director, Dept. of Economics, Manglore University), Dr. Viswanatha( Professor and Director, Centre for BR Ambedker Studies, Manglore University) , Dr. K. Mallikarjuna Reddy (Professor and Head, Dept. of Histrory, Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, A.P), Dr. M.H.Suryanarayana(Professor, IGIDR, Mumbai), Dr. K.Thankappan Professor and Head, Achuthamenon, Centre for health Science Studies, Sree Chithirathirunal Institute of Medical science and technology, thiruvananthapuram), Dr.V.Anbumani(Professor, Dept. of Economics, Bharatiar University, Coimbatore) and more than 20 experts from the related areas presented papers on this seminar. 119 participants from different states of the country registered for and attended the conference.
