Webinar on Cotemporary Theatre

The Department of Studies in English conducted the inauguration of the theatre club ‘Ludere’ on 26th of November, 2020. The platform for the whole programme was google meet and began by 8.30 a.m. with an opening address by the coordinator, theatre club, Sreerag.P.K. Dr. Sreebitha.P.V. HOD,DSE, offered felicitations to the programme. Ms. Jwelna Jayachandran of I semester M.A. English introduced the chief guest for the day Mr. Devendranath Sankaranarayanan (Course Director, Basic Acting SKIFT,FTII Pune). The inauguration of the club by the chief guest was followed by an interactive workshop titled “Text, Image and Performance”. Members of the theatre club were divided into three groups and were made to produce performances on texts of different genres. The selected texts were “The Goblin Market”, The God of Small Things and The Pygmalion. All the three groups came up with astonishing performances. The programme was attended by the faculty members, Reseach Scholars and Students from various parts of Kerala. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks address by Ms. Sumat Balachandran,( III Semester M.A.) at 10.30.a.m.

An interactive session on the topic “Contemporary Theatre” was conducted by the theatre club ‘Ludere’ on 8th of December, 2020. The platform for the whole programme was google meet and began by 11.00 a.m. with an opening address by the coordinator, theatre club, Sreerag.P.K. The Resource person for the day was Mr.Vinod. V. Narayanan (Asst. Prof, School of Drama and Fine Arts Calicut University). The talk by the resource person was followed by an interactive session in which various students and research scholars of Kannur University participated actively. The programme was graced with the presence and interaction of the students from Kerala Kalamandalam, Thrissur. The programme was attended by the faculty members, Reseach Scholars and Students from various parts of Kerala. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks address by Ms.Ralufa Ambili,( III Semester M.A.) at 1.p.m.
