LITHOLOGICAL MAPPING AND UNDERSTANDING SUB SURFACE GEOLOGYAND EXPLORATION OPEN AND BOREWELLS USING AQUAMETER CRM-20

Geographical studies nowadays with the  help of advanced tools and technology have entered into the field of other disciplines. Lithological mapping and sub surface geology identification were formerly conducted only by trained geologists. But geographical works related to physical aspects requires such information. With advanced tools geographer too could be equipped to conduct such studies. Department of Geography, Kannur University took such an initiative on December 5, 2018 by inviting Prof. (Dr.) P.K.Rajan (Retd.) to deliver lecture on Lithological mapping and to give hands on  training of Aquameter CRM- 20 for the students as well as the teaching staff of the department. Recently a lot of geographical studies have been concentrating on various aspects of groundwater; such studies require deep knowledge of underlying geology. Therefore this class and practical session were useful to the students as well as the staff and would allow them to extend the scope of geographical research.
