Enrichment Programme on Information Literacy for NHG members of Kudumbasree units in Kannur Corporation

The Department conducted “Enriching Programme on Information Literacy for NHG Members of Kudumbashree” on 25th March 2019 at Cherusseri Auditorium, Thavakkara Campus, Kannur University.

Kudumbashree has exhibited tremendous growth by bringing out social cohesion. Kudumbashree has ventured into multiple domains and has grown multifold. Under these circumstances it is imperative that professionalism is cultivated and maintained throughout the system for sustainable growth. This programme aimed at making all Kudumbashree members as lifelong learners thereby upholding the values of reading and learning. Raising a well informaed and independent learning womanhood is the ultimate aim of this programme. Another important aspect of this training programme is to impart Information Technology skills to the participants which is done in collaboration with Kerala IT Mission, Kannur.

The one day orientation programme included:

1. Need for information literacy among NHG members
2. Cultivation of reading habit among NHG members
3. Hands on training to acquire digital literacy

The programme inaugurated by Dr. S. Gregory, Dean Social Science, Kannur University and the programme coordinated by Ms. Ramya A V, Head, Department of Library and Information Science. Resource persons present in the programme are Dr. K. Dinesan, Director, Institute of Library and Information Science, Kerala State Library Council, Kasaragod, B. Raghunath, State Resource Person (Malayalam), Mr. Hiresh R, Block Co-ordinator, Akshaya District Project Office, Kerala State IT Mission.
