Traditional Farming: The Experience of an Organic Farmer

In commemoration ofthe World Environment Day,the History Association, Department of History,Kannur University organised inaugural functionand a webinar on the topic Traditional Farming: The Experience of an Organic Farmer, on 5th June 2021.The programme was inaugurated by Sri. ShymjithThillenkeri, well known Eco- farmer and Vanamitra Award Winner of the Government of Kerala, 2021 who talked about Human -Nature Interface: The Experience of an Organic Farmer. He was the Key Speaker of the webinar also. In his presentation, Shyamjithpointed out North Malabar’s long heritage offarming through traditional mode and shared his own experience of an eco-farmer for about the last 20 years. He also introduced severalplants,havingmedicinal properties,to the audience.

In this webinar, Dr.ManjulaPoyil,Head of the Department of History, welcomed the gathering and DhanasreeNandana, Asst. Professor (on contract) delivered vote of thanks. Students of the department planted saplings in their houses as part of the OruThainadam Programme.
