Indian History Congress

Date: December 28-30, 2008

The Department hosted the 69th session of the Indian History Congress on 28-30 December 2008. The organizing committee included Dr. P. Chandra Mohan, the Vice-Chancellor of kannur University (as Chairman), Sri. M. Prakashan MLA (as convenor) and Dr. C.Balan, the Course Director (as Local Secretary). Sri.V.S Achuthanadan, Chief Minister of Kerala inaugurated the History Congress and historians from all over India and outside like Prof. Romila Thaper, Prof. Irfan Habib, Prof. K.N. Panikkar, Prof. Kumkum Roy, Prof. Rajan Gurukkal, among others, participated in the Congress. Papers were presented in five sessions - Ancient Indian History, Medieval Indian History, Modern Indian History, Archaeology, and Countries Other than India.
