Gandhi-150

Date: 1st to 9th March 2019

In accordance with the directives of the Government of India, the Department of History, Kannur University, joined hands with the nation’s resolve to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing various programmes designed to inspire the young generation and the public on his life and thoughts and to bring out the relevance of his ideas for humanity in future social life. The programmes were organized under “Gandhi-150” from 1st to 9th March 2019. The participants included students and teachers from various schools/colleges and public people interested in Gandhian ideology. Dr.Manjula Poyil, Head of the Department, co-ordinated the programme which was inaugurated formally by renowned Gandhian Sri.Appukuttan Poduval. The major programmes organized under Gandhi-150 included seminars/debates, archival (photo/document) exhibitions, film exhibition, quiz/essay competitions, pencil drawing competition, field visits, interview of renowned Gandhians, and documentation of sites related to Gandhiji’s visit.
